Cranial Remolding Program

PRS Savannah is a Starband® Certified Center.

Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery of Savannah provides cranial remolding orthosis, or helmet therapy, to infants up to one year of age. Plagiocephaly or "flat head syndrome" is a common condition in infants; affecting nearly half of all infants aged 7 to 12 weeks. Early physical therapy and helmet therapy can assist in correcting this condition by creating a more symmetrical head shape.

Our office provides in-house helmet scans, helmet fittings, and all follow-up adjustments. We have a dedicated, private scan room for patients which houses our Starscanner. The Starscanner is an eye-safe laser that retrieves a 3D image of your baby’s head. After the initial consultation with Dr. Kumar, you will be referred to our licensed certified prosthetist orthotist, Tim Fleming, LCPO. Tim will scan your baby’s head and one week later, your baby will be fit for their helmet in our office. All follow up adjustments are free of charge.
